“All right, sounds good to me Schultz. Were heading northeast towards the communications tower. Move out!” I ordered.
We all moved best we could, but the dense jungle slowed us all down considerably. It took us about forty-five minutes to travel the three mile distance to the tower. When we did eventually reach the tower I had Winslow use his mounted scope on his M40 to run recon for us. The tower was in the center of a circular clearing. It stood at about 50 feet tall with 4 satellite dishes on random points throughout the tower. At the base of it sat an operations room. It was only one floor and fairly small. No more than three men could fit in there comfortably. Forest surrounded the tower on all sides. That was good; it would provide us with good cover if we got into a sticky situation.
“There are two men patrolling the area, sir. Repetitive circular pattern. If we time it correctly we could reach the operations room without ever having to come into contact with them. Or, I could just as easily take them both out quick and quiet with my M40. It’s your call.” Winslow told me.
